An ACC matchup with real stakes comes to Dallas. Virginia (4-2, 2-1 ACC) visits No. 24 SMU (4-1, 2-1) at noon on The CW, and the winner moves into the top tier of the league.
Virginia insider Prescott Ashby-Lowell, who calls campus "the Grounds," is proud of Beau Pribula's 13 touchdowns against one interception and last week's 28-25 win over Syracuse. SMU insider Tatum Delacroix-Price, sweet but savage, has already graded Virginia's sideline and found it short-handed. She's not wrong. The Cavaliers' final report lists 24 players out, including season-ending news for starting cornerback Omillio Agard, plus safeties Corey Costner and Brandyn Hillman and linebacker Caleb Hardy.
That puts Kevin Jennings in a great spot. The SMU quarterback has 1,588 yards and 14 touchdowns, and Kendrick Raphael adds six rushing scores. The Mustangs have injuries too, including running backs Dramekco Green and Link Rhodes, receivers Carterrious Brown and Daylon Singleton, and two linebackers. Still, SMU comes in off an open week while Virginia played last Saturday.
Our call: SMU 30, Virginia 21.
