New York Giants at Houston Texans

New York Giants (3-2-1) at Houston Texans (2-4)

1:00 PM ET Sun Oct 25 · Reliant Stadium, Houston, TX · Fox

Reliant Stadium, 1 p.m. Eastern on Fox. Yes, Reliant Stadium. The name came back in August for the Texans' 25th season, so if your old Houston ticket stubs suddenly look current again, that's why. Leon Drobny speaks for the Giants and keeps a framed list of every upset they ever pulled in January and February. Nate Coleman speaks for the Texans and judges every team by how fast it gets to the quarterback.

Leon: Nate, I love what you did with the place. Very retro.

Nate: We like our history, Leon. We're 25 years old. You've been around a lot longer. You've had time to collect a few things.

Leon: Eight league championships. Four Super Bowls. Two of them against a New England team everyone said couldn't lose, including one that was 18-0 walking in. When people tell me we can't win, I get comfortable.

Nate: Then you should be very comfortable right now.

Last week, Texans: Houston beat Jacksonville 34-31 at Wembley Stadium in London on Ka'imi Fairbairn's 49-yard field goal as time expired. C.J. Stroud's one interception, his first of the season, came in the end zone and let Jacksonville tie it, and then he calmly drove the Texans into field-goal range. Marvin Harrison Jr., acquired from Arizona that week, made his Houston debut with three catches. It was Houston's second straight win.

Nate: And here's the fun part: we were 2-4 at this point last year too, and finished 12-5 with a playoff spot. Nobody in this building is panicking.

Last week, Giants: New York led New Orleans 10-0 late in the first half, then the Saints scored 34 straight points. A forced fumble on a kickoff return right before halftime flipped everything. Jameis Winston started and went 14 of 26 for 152 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Saints 34, Giants 27.

The big storyline: Who starts at quarterback for the Giants? As of Tuesday morning, the Giants still haven't named a starter. Winston has started since Jaxson Dart hurt his knee in Week 2, an injury that will keep him out the rest of the regular season. McCarthy arrived in a trade late last month. Harbaugh said Monday he is narrowing it down, the team's first practice of the week is Wednesday, and the first official injury report isn't out yet.

Leon: Here's my history lesson, Nate. Nobody gave us a chance in Super Bowl XLII either. Whoever it is, the young arm or the veteran with swagger, it's going to be interesting.

The matchup: This is exactly Nate's kind of game. Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter against a Giants offensive front that has allowed sacks on 7.9% of dropbacks. The Giants bring their own heat with Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux. Malik Nabers is the receiver the Texans can't lose track of, and Nico Collins, Harrison and Moreau give Stroud plenty of targets. The Giants' run defense has allowed 5.3 yards a carry, but Houston has run for only 3.6. Something has to give.

The numbers: Houston has scored 144 and allowed 143, about as even as a season gets. The Giants have scored 136 and allowed 140.

Nate: One more thing, Leon. Houston gave the world a lot of firsts. The Astrodome next door was the first domed stadium for major league sports. You can see it from our parking lot.

Leon: We have the Meadowlands swamp, a stadium we share with our neighbors, and a tie against Washington this year. I didn't say it was glamorous.

Nate: A tie? How does that even happen?

Leon: Overtime ends, Nate. Nobody wins. We all go home a little confused.

Nate: Come hungry. We'll show you what Texas barbecue is supposed to taste like.

Leon: Deal. And I'll show you what a Giants upset is supposed to look like.

My call: Texans 28, Giants 19.
