Meet Your Insider
Woooo, Pig, here comes the data! I'm Bubba Fayette-Dorsey, and I'm your Arkansas insider here at The Cover Window. The short version: I'm an ozark grade-school science teacher who calls the Hogs before every stat. I follow this team from the stands, every week, and I love it out loud. Fair warning about my habit: calls the Hogs before every stat, even negative ones. On the podcast, my segment is called Hog Call. The show card describes it like this: calls the Hogs, then reads the stat. My rules are simple. I keep it clean and kind, I celebrate players as people, I respect every opponent, and I never invent a stat, a quote or a fact. If I can't source it, you won't hear it from me. This week the Razorbacks have an open date, so instead of a game preview you get the full tour: the school, the coach, the players, the league and what's next.
The School in 60 Seconds
Home is Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, AR, built in 1938 with a listed capacity of 80,000. The playing surface is Frank Broyles Field, per Wikipedia. The fight song is "Arkansas Fight", per Wikipedia. The band is the Best in Sight and Sound, per Wikipedia. The program claims national titles from 1964, per Wikipedia. The last five seasons went 9-4, 7-6, 4-8, 7-6 and 2-10, from 2021 through 2025. The most frequent opponents from 2016 through 2025 tell you who matters around here: Texas A&M (1-9 in 10 meetings), Ole Miss (4-6 in 10 meetings), Auburn (2-8 in 10 meetings), LSU (1-9 in 10 meetings). That's a list of games, not an official rivalry list. The 2026 recruiting class ranked No. 46 nationally in CFBD's team rankings. And if you visit, ask somebody about Calling the Hogs; it's the tradition I'd show you first.
The Coach and the Scheme
Ryan Silverfield leads the Razorbacks; CollegeFootballData dates the hire to Nov. 30, 2025. Through 7 games, Arkansas scores 21.0 points a game and allows 26.7. By our math from CFBD figures, the offense runs on about 49% of its plays, gaining 111.6 rushing yards and 231.4 passing yards a game. That's a balanced menu. On third down, Arkansas converts 42.4% of the time and opponents convert 42.9%. The defense has 10 sacks and 27 tackles for loss, and the turnover ledger reads 8 giveaways against 9 takeaways. Penalties cost 52.7 yards a game. The high-water mark so far was 34 points against Tulsa on Sept. 27, 2026, and 1 of the 7 games was decided by eight points or fewer. Over the season, opponents have outscored Arkansas by a combined 40 points. Every one of those numbers is a little homework for the open week.
Players to Know
QB KJ Jackson (passing leader): 131/215, 1444 yards, 7 TD, 4 INT.
RB Braylen Russell (rushing leader): 58 carries, 205 yards, 2 TD.
WR Chris Marshall (receiving leader): 43 catches, 633 yards, 2 TD.
On defense, LB Ja'Quavion Smith leads with 48 tackles; DL Quincy Rhodes Jr. has 3 sacks; DB Miguel Mitchell has 2 interceptions.
Injury news: we found no official availability report during an open week, so we're not listing any. Official reports return before the next game.
The Conference Picture
Arkansas is 3-4 overall, 2-2 at home and 1-2 away. In SEC play the Razorbacks are 1-3, which sorts them No. 14 of 16 by record. Georgia sits on top at 4-1 in league games. Right around us: Texas A&M (1-3) and South Carolina (1-3). The top of the table: Georgia (4-1), Kentucky (4-1), Tennessee (3-1). That order is a sort by record, not the official tiebreaker order. Every league game from here is a chance to move up, and the open week is when the plan for that climb gets built. An open date in late October is a chance to heal up and study the stretch run.
This Week: Open Date
No game for Arkansas this week. The last time out, on Oct. 17, 2026, the Razorbacks beat Vanderbilt on the road, 31-21. Next up: Saturday, Oct. 31, vs. Missouri, in Fayetteville, with a flex kickoff window of 2:30 to 7 p.m.; it is also Homecoming. Missouri comes in at 5-2. From 2016 through 2025, Arkansas went 1-9 against Missouri in 10 meetings. After that, CFBD lists at Auburn (Nov. 7), vs. South Carolina (Nov. 14), at Texas (Nov. 21), vs. LSU (Nov. 28). Until then: rest, film and a little extra time in the ice tub.
My Open-Week Take
Here's how I see it, friends. An open date isn't a day off; it's a deep breath. The coaches get to fix the little things, the players get their legs back, and we fans get a Saturday to call our families, clean the grill and argue happily about the depth chart. When the Razorbacks come back, I'll be right there in the stands, same seat, same voice, and I'll bring you every sourced detail. Thanks for spending part of your open week with me. Woooo, Pig, here comes the data!
