Houston quarterback Conner Weigman has completed 134 of 198 passes for 1,771 yards, 20 touchdowns and two interceptions. Receiver Amare Thomas has 36 catches for 487 yards and six touchdowns. Running back Makhi Hughes has 464 yards. Kentrell Webb leads with 43 tackles, and Javion White has 2.5 sacks.
Utah quarterback Devon Dampier has 1,412 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. Running back Wayshawn Parker has 597 yards and seven touchdowns. Receiver Braden Pegan has 32 catches for 422 yards and six touchdowns. Trey Reynolds leads with 35 tackles.

What happened last week
Houston beat No. 18 Oklahoma State 35-32, its fourth straight win and first over a ranked team this season. Weigman went 24 of 33 for 343 yards with five touchdown passes. Houston gained 505 yards. Thomas caught seven passes for 126 yards and two scores. Willie Fritz said of Weigman, "He just keeps getting a little bit better every single week".
Utah won 27-24 at Colorado. Dampier threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns, with two interceptions, and Pegan caught two touchdowns. "It's not always pretty, but we did enough," Morgan Scalley said.
Aspen: Not pretty, but we cleared the last gate. Six for six, and the longest active winning run in the country, Yo.

What the coaches are up to
Morgan Scalley is in his first season as Utah's head coach. He was a close second in midseason Big 12 coach of the year voting. Utah's 6-0 start is its first since 2015. The Utes' 12-game winning run is the longest active one in FBS.
Willie Fritz is in his third season at Houston, hired Dec. 3, 2023. Houston's run defense allows 82.6 yards a game, and Utah's defense allows 14.8 points a game.
Player storylines
Utah has scored a touchdown on its opening drive in every game and has outscored opponents 75-3 in the first quarter. Houston needs a fast start of its own. Third downs are the gate to watch, and both teams like to run the ball behind stout fronts. Houston has converted 54 of 88, and Utah's defense has allowed only 25 of 81.
