Colorado (2-4, 0-3 Big 12) at Oklahoma State (4-2, 2-1 Big 12). Saturday, Oct. 24, 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. Central), Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater, Okla., FS1.
Your hosts are Dusty Lockridge, an Oklahoma State fan who times plays with a stopwatch from the saddle, and Moss Feldstein, a Colorado fan who runs a quant model from a hammock.
Dusty: Moss, you run numbers from a hammock. I time plays from a saddle. We'll both be counting Saturday.
Moss: Statistically, Dusty, that's rad. My model says penalties are our noisiest variable. I'm working on it.
Players to watch
Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker has 1,940 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has thrown for 300-plus yards in five straight games, the second-longest active run in FBS. Receiver Wyatt Young has 32 catches for 561 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Caleb Hawkins has 592 rushing yards. Ethan Wesloski leads with 62 tackles, and Malik Charles has 2.5 sacks.
Colorado receiver Joseph Williams has 37 catches for 508 yards and five touchdowns. Julian Lewis leads the season passing stats with 733 yards. Isaac Wilson threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns last week. Running back JaQuail Smith has 259 yards. Lamont Lester Jr. leads with four sacks, and Randon Fontenette has 49 tackles.
Dusty: Five straight 300-yard games. That cowboy can rope.
What happened last week
Oklahoma State lost 35-32 at Houston. The Cowboys trailed 14-3 at halftime, then scored 29 second-half points. Mestemaker went 22 of 34 for 365 yards and three touchdowns. Hawkins caught seven passes for a career-high 125 yards, two shy of the school record for a running back. Houston converted 7 of 13 third downs, and OSU had a season-high nine penalties.
Colorado lost 27-24 to No. 11 Utah in Boulder. The Buffs gained 324 of their 394 yards after halftime and pulled within a field goal with 1:21 left. At halftime they had more penalty yards (82) than yards gained (70). After the game, Deion Sanders said, "Isaac is that guy".
Moss: Second-half Colorado is a different data set. I'd like the full-game version.
Injuries and availability
The official Big 12 availability report for this game hasn't been published yet. Colorado hasn't said whether Wilson or Lewis will start, and no injury news has surfaced for either team.
What the coaches are up to
Eric Morris is in his first season at Oklahoma State. He was hired late in 2025 and was previously head coach at Incarnate Word and North Texas.
Deion Sanders, "Coach Prime," played 14 NFL seasons and nine MLB seasons. He's the only athlete to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. He keeps naming discipline as a frustration.
Player storylines
Mestemaker and Young face a Colorado pass rush with 13 sacks. Colorado's offense has lost 13 turnovers. OSU's offense averages about 37.2 points a game. The Cowboys remain in the Big 12 race with one league loss, but they'll need help.
What's happening on campus
It's America's Greatest Homecoming in Stillwater, and the game is sold out.
Dusty: Sold out, lit up and loud, Moss. Bring your hammock if you want, but nobody in Boone Pickens is sitting down. The Big 12's TV partners held this game for six days before setting the 6 p.m. Central kickoff on FS1.
Anything else fun and true
Colorado leads the series 27-20-1. The last meeting was a 52-0 Colorado win in Boulder on Nov. 29, 2024. OSU won the one before that, 38-8 in San Antonio in 2016. Colorado opened this season with a 14-13 win at Georgia Tech.
Dusty: Fifty-two to nothing still stings, Moss. Homecoming is a fine time to forget it.
Moss: My model says regression to the mean, Dusty. Saddle up anyway.
The Cover Window
My call: Oklahoma State Cowboys 31, Colorado Buffaloes 21.
