Texas A&M (3-3, 1-3 SEC) could use a feel-good afternoon at Kyle Field, and The Citadel (2-4) shows up at 1 p.m. on SECN+ with courage and a capable runner.
Citadel insider Cadet-Major (Ret.) Beauford Legare calls even the stat sheet "sir." He's proud of Gavin Garcia, who has 579 rushing yards and six touchdowns, and he promises a disciplined, clock-eating plan. Texas A&M insider Colt Wendeborn can't explain anything without also explaining the tradition behind it. He says the 12th Man is ready to see the Aggies regain their footing after last Saturday's 27-6 loss at Missouri.
Marcel Reed (1,097 yards) and receiver Isaiah Horton lead an offense that needs to find a rhythm before SEC play resumes. Running back Rueben Owens II should see plenty of carries, and A&M's depth should show as the game goes on. For The Citadel, the goal is ball control and a few big Garcia runs. Wind gusts in the upper 20s could slow the passing game.
Our call: Texas A&M 50, The Citadel 6.
