The Bluebonnet Battle is back on. TCU (2-3, 0-2 Big 12) visits Baylor (4-1, 2-0) at 7 p.m. on FS1, and both teams had about two weeks to prepare for a game nobody in either fan base takes lightly.
Baylor insider Magnolia "Maggie" Whitlock renovates every weakness on air. She calls McLane Stadium the dream home and points to DJ Lagway, who is "getting healthier" and has eight touchdown passes, plus Gavin Freeman's 42 catches. TCU insider Ryder Galloway blames everything bad on Dallas. He likes a Horned Frog defense ESPN ranks 22nd and Jaden Craig's 1,400 passing yards.
Both teams are banged up. Baylor is missing safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson and defensive lineman Devonte Tezino. TCU is without linebacker Michael Short, cornerback Devondre McGee and two offensive linemen, and kicker Kyle Lemmermann is questionable. Tight end Kari Ashley, with 374 yards and four touchdowns, is probable for the Frogs. Mild weather makes this a test of defense.
Our call: Baylor 27, TCU 20.
